How to prepare your dog for their first day of daycare

The first day at daycare makes all the difference. The good news: preparing your dog is simple. Just bring their food, keep their vaccination record up to date, and let the first day be an evaluation day, with no rush. Here's how to make that first time easy and calm.

Before you come

Make sure their vaccination schedule is complete for their age (multivalent, rabies, and the kennel cough booster). You don't need to bring beds, bowls, or toys: at Dog Garden we have everything. In fact, we recommend not bringing their belongings, since they can get damaged during play with other dogs. Just bring their food.

The evaluation day

We dedicate the first day to helping your furry friend gradually join the group. We watch how they're feeling and let you know over WhatsApp how it went. If we notice they're getting stressed or aren't comfortable, we'll tell you honestly: sometimes it's solved with shorter stays at the beginning, so the transition stays gentle.

How you can help

Dogs read our emotions, so a short, calm goodbye helps more than long farewells. Keep their eating and sleeping routine at home. You'll see that, after the first few visits, your furry friend walks in happy, knowing their friends are waiting for them.
